Headshots for Actors
Horsham based studio
Alright, let’s talk about about why actors and performers absolutely must have a top-notch headshot. It’s not just a photo – it’s your ticket to the next big role, the first impression you give to casting directors, agents, and anyone else in the business. And let’s face it, in this industry, first impressions mean a lot.
You might think, “Oh, I’ve got a nice picture of me in my best lighting,” but here’s the thing: a professional headshot is specifically designed to show you at your best, but also with that spark of personality that makes you stand out from the crowd. And trust me, the competition is fierce. Casting directors flick through stacks of headshots every day, and they need to see exactly what you’re about – quickly. If your headshot doesn’t grab their attention or capture the essence of who you are as a performer, it could get passed over in a heartbeat.
A well-shot headshot not only shows your face clearly but it conveys a story – it captures the essence of what kind of roles you might suit. Are you the lovable romantic lead? The brooding antihero? Or maybe the quirky best friend? A headshot that’s been thoughtfully composed will communicate that instantly, even before you’ve spoken a word. And when you’re auditioning for a role, that's absolutely crucial.
What’s more, in a world where everything’s digital, casting directors might never meet you in person before calling you in for an audition. Your headshot is the way they’ll decide whether or not to invite you to showcase your talents. It's more than just a photo – it’s your entry point into the world of opportunity. If it’s dull, out-of-date, or badly lit, it could mean the difference between landing an audition or being passed over for someone else.
And let’s be honest – actors are constantly evolving. Your headshot needs to be updated regularly to reflect your current look, style, and range. You want to make sure that the photo you send out is fresh and true to who you are today, not the version of you from three years ago. The casting director will see that and feel confident that you're ready for the part.
So, to all the actors out there: think of your headshot as your industry business card. It’s worth the investment, and it’s your chance to shine even before you’ve stepped foot into an audition room. Don’t skimp on it – after all, it could be the first step in landing your next big role!

I hate having my photo taken but I really enjoyed the session.

"But I hate having my photo taken!"
I totally get it – no one really loves having their photo taken, do they? Most people come in feeling a bit nervous or even downright uncomfortable. It’s totally natural to feel that way! Having your photo taken can be a vulnerable experience. You’re putting yourself out there, and it can feel a little intimidating. Trust me, I’ve had my fair share of awkward photos too, so I know how it feels.
But here’s the thing: my studio isn’t some big, formal space: it’s small, cosy, and friendly – a home-based studio (with pet cats!) that’s designed to make you feel at ease the moment you walk in. There’s no pressure, no stiff formalities, and certainly no judgement. It’s just you, me, and a relaxed environment where we can take the time to get things right. I want you to feel comfortable, confident, and most importantly, like yourself.
We’ll take it slow, have a bit of a laugh, and chat about what you need from the shoot. I’ve worked with all sorts of people, from nervous first-timers to seasoned pros, and my aim is always the same: to make sure you feel like you’ve had an enjoyable, easy-going experience. Before you know it, you’ll forget the camera’s even there, and we’ll capture some beautiful shots without the stress.
So, if you’re feeling a bit apprehensive, don’t worry – you’re not alone. I’m here to make sure it’s a fun, relaxed process, and by the end of it, you’ll have some brilliant photos that actually make you feel proud. It’s all about taking that first step, and I’ll guide you through it every step of the way.
What should I wear?
When it comes to headshots, what you wear can make all the difference, and I’m here to help make sure you feel your best. The goal is to look like you – not a costume, not something you think you should wear, but something that reflects who you really are.
First things first, keep it simple. Solid colours are always a winner. Bright, bold colours can look fantastic, but make sure it complements your complexion. You want your outfit to enhance your features, not overwhelm them. I’d steer clear of crazy patterns, stripes, or anything too flashy that might draw attention away from your face. We’re here for you to shine, not your clothes.
A classic, fitted top is always a good choice. A shirt with a nice neckline can really flatter your face, and it’s generally a safer bet than something with a busy collar or a high-neck that can swallow up your frame. Keep jewellery simple – small studs or a delicate necklace are perfect, but avoid anything too big or flashy. We want the focus on your face, not your accessories!
For actors and performers, think about the role you’re going for. If you’re aiming for a more polished, professional look, you might want to go for something smart, but if you’re after a more casual vibe, just wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident. The key is for the clothes to reflect the persona you want to project without distracting from your natural expression.
Lastly, bring a few options to the shoot! It’s always helpful to have a couple of tops, maybe one formal and one more casual, so we can see what works best. And don’t forget about grooming – make sure your hair is styled the way you like it and you’re feeling fresh. You want to feel like the best version of yourself, and that’ll come across in the photos.
In short, wear something you feel comfortable and confident in, that flatters your features, and gives off the vibe you want for your headshot. And if you’re ever in doubt, just ask me – we’ll figure it out together!
How do I choose?
A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however a small line of blind text by the name of Lorem Ipsum decided to leave for the far World of Grammar.

About me
Well, let me tell you a bit about myself. I’ve been in the photography game for over 30 years now, and in that time, I’ve had the pleasure of working with all sorts of wonderful people. From actors and performers to business professionals and families, I’ve seen it all. But what I really love is getting to know my clients and making sure they feel comfortable in front of the camera. I know it can feel a bit awkward at first – we’ve all been there – but that’s where I come in. My job is to put you at ease, so you can relax and let your natural self shine through. A good headshot or portrait is about capturing your essence, and that only happens when you feel confident and comfortable.
What some people might not know about me is that I’m also a professionally trained dancer. That background gives me a special understanding of the performing arts world. I get what it’s like to be in front of the camera and how important it is to convey emotion and presence in a single shot. Whether it’s a headshot for an actor or a promotional photo for a dancer or musician, I know exactly what’s needed to make you look your best while still staying true to who you are as a performer.
I’ve worked with so many creatives over the years, and it’s always a joy to see their personalities come through in their photos. Whether you’re looking for something simple and professional, or a more artistic, expressive shot, I’ve got the experience and the eye to make it happen. I can offer advice that goes beyond just taking a good picture – I know what works for your headshot in the context of your specific craft.
At the end of the day, I want you to leave my studio feeling great about your photos and yourself. A relaxed atmosphere, a little chat, and some good energy – that’s the formula for creating something special.
